Dutch National Opera & Ballet brings magic to the everyday. During a performance, you step out of the daily grind and land in a dream world of majestic movements and spine-tingling music. But what if we don't let that magic exist only inside the theatre, but take it out onto the streets? With an interactive OOH screen where passers-by can dance a pas de deux with a dancer of the Dutch National Ballet.
Dance with a ballerina yourself
On the streets and in shopping centres, they appear on the screen: the dancers of the Dutch National Ballet. Muscles warmed up, pointe shoes tied. While stretching, they prepare themselves and invite passers-by to come and dance with them. Stand on the spot and your shadow appears on the screen. A simple instruction shows which movement you get to make. As soon as you move, the dancer responds instantly with an elegant choreography. Do you spin around? A series of pirouettes follows. Do you jump? Then comes a grand jeté, an arabesque, you name it.Running errands or an afternoon of shopping transforms into an interactive experience that unexpectedly brings ballet close.
Gold at the Digital Creative Competition
When we won the gold award at the Ocean Digital Creative Competition with this idea, we jumped for joy. This yielded €500,000 in media value. In late summer 2025, thousands of passers-by got the chance to try their hand at dancing with the dancers of the Dutch National Ballet.
